$17M Round For Southborough Firm

Southborough software testing company uTest has completed a $17-million round of funding led by QuestMark Partners.

The company said it will use the money to open new offices in Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago; explore merger and acquisition possibilities; develop new tools and hire new employees.

The company, which has raised a total of $37 million since it started in 2007, provides what it calls "in the wild" testing, in which multiple testers use apps in real-world conditions. UTest said its customers include big names like Google, Microsoft and the BBC.

As part of the financing deal, QuestMark Partner Tim Krongard will join uTest's board of directors.
