Excellent colleges and universities flourish when they have the resources to attract motivated students and talented faculty, equip and maintain state-of-the-art facilities, and adapt programs to the changing needs of students and the community. The Worcester State Foundation works to ensure that Worcester State University has the resources it needs to thrive and maintain its reputation for academic excellence—now and into the future. We connect your charitable objectives with the needs and mission of the University.
Fundraising priorities continue to be student scholarship support, academic development, capital projects and equipment, and mission support.
Under the management of the University Advancement Division, the foundation increases awareness of WSU’s excellence, promotes Worcester State’s importance and vitality, and raises private gifts to support the university’s mission. As an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, the foundation develops, fosters, and cultivates relationships with WSU’s external constituencies, including alumni, friends, corporate partners, private foundations, and supporters in the greater Worcester community and beyond.
Your gifts to Worcester State University make a measureable difference in the lives of our students. Donors support the Worcester State Fund, student scholarships, student and faculty research, athletic programming, capital improvements, equipment purchases, and more.
There are many vehicles for giving, and your gift can be tailored to meet your financial and philanthropic objectives.
Sponsorships and Gifts-in-Kind
Worcester State University has a busy calendar of academic, cultural, community, and sporting events open to the campus community and the public. These include speaker series, lectures, special event programming, athletic activities, Homecoming, the annual Worcester State Foundation Golf Tournament, and many more.
Sponsorships, financial contributions, and gifts-in-kind are routinely sought to support these activities.
Charitable Contributions
The Worcester State Foundation accepts gifts of cash, appreciated securities, gifts from donor-advised funds and family foundations, real estate or tangible property, matching gifts, planned, deferred and combination gifts.
The Foundation’s annual appeals for the Worcester State Fund are in the fall and spring, and all year long through our student caller phonathon program. Major gift initiatives take place in coordination with the University’s strategic plan and initiatives.
Lancer Athletics teams fundraise throughout the fall, winter, and spring sports season.
As chairman, I am honored to uphold the mission of the Worcester State Foundation to enrich and empower Worcester State University, its students, and faculty. Through scholarships, research grants, and funds for capital and facilities improvements, the Worcester State Foundation provides opportunities that promote and sustain a strong future for our region. Our students are tomorrow’s leaders, employees, entrepreneurs, and productive citizens. They represent the backbone of our community. Their achievements are made possible through the inspiring generosity of our donors. We are grateful for the continued loyalty of our alumni, friends, business supporters, and our WSU families. Together, we help transform lives.
