The Greater Worcester Community Foundation and United Way of Central Massachusetts, joined forces — in cooperation with the City of Worcester – to create the Worcester Together: Central Mass COVID-19 Fund.
The Fund is marshaling resources to support the most vulnerable and at-risk families and workers in our communities. Over $2 million in grants have already been made to more than 110 nonprofit organizations for immediate needs. We ask that all members of our community give generously to Worcester Together and help those most in need. Donate online today at www.greaterworcester.org
1. Strengthen Worcester, attract investment, stimulate business and make our communities more sustainable.
2. Engage donors to endow their philanthropy and create a lasting legacy through Named Funds with a current gift or bequest.
3. Through funding and leadership, we will address the disparities and inequities in our community and quicken the pace of progress toward a stronger community for all.
4. With our partner, the Barr Foundation, we will energize Worcester’s dynamic creative ecosystem by supporting innovative projects and thoughtful planning in the arts.
5. Community volunteers of all ages will participate with us in the process of grant making and see the community in new ways.
6. Our Nonprofit Support Center will continue to build the capacity and better connect our region’s nonprofit organizations.
7. Our academic scholarships will help more than 400 students attend college.
8. We will help Professional Advisors identify the best solutions for their clients when considering lifetime and legacy giving.
Our grant awards are made possible by the generosity of past donors who established permanent charitable funds with us during their lifetimes or by a bequest. With a gift of $10,000 or more, anyone may establish a named fund to create a meaningful and personal legacy. The Foundation can provide you with expertise and community knowledge to turn your charitable interests into impactful giving strategies.
The Foundation created the Civic Leadership Fund as the Annual Campaign to support programs, services and initiatives that contribute to the civic health of Worcester.
Working with volunteers is a cornerstone of our work. Opportunities include participating in grant making, site-visits, investment oversight, awarding scholarships and fundraising for special projects. You’ll meet other business, education, and nonprofit leaders, as well as area high school sophomores and juniors who are learning about the power of philanthropy.
Our Professional Advisor Network includes lawyers, accountants, trust officers, and financial advisors, who play a special role in advancing understanding of the community foundation, in serving the charitable interests of their clients.
MISSION STATEMENT
