May 20, 2019 Giving Guide 2018

Girls Inc. of Worcester

Future Goals

1. Using the foundation of our Strategic Direction and aligning with the goals of our national network, we will work collaboratively in our community and neighborhood to empower more girls with our proven, dynamic model.

2. Equip girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers to grow up healthy, educated, and independent.  Girls will build confidence and embrace positive decision-making to take charge of their health and wellbeing, and achieve academic, personal, and career goals.

3. Create an atmosphere of cultural competency, strengthen diversity among staff and Board of Directors, and support a positive learning and sharing environment for staff and volunteers.

4. Make strategic investments to create a more innovative, dynamic, and environmentally sustainable building facility to provide critical and cutting-edge programs.

5. Maintain financial sustainability and increase resources to support our growth plan and community partnerships.

Fundraising Events/Opportunities

Girls Celebration - An inspiring event that celebrates the accomplishments of our teen Girl Awardees, as well as local community leaders that truly exemplify Girls Inc.’s mission of inspiring all girls to be strong (healthy), smart (educated), and bold (independent).

Alumni Events – Events are planned throughout the year to honor our past and look to our future.  Events, such as our Leadership Breakfast, showcase the remarkable alumni whose lives were impacted by Girls Inc.

College Shower –At Girls Inc., we believe that graduating from high school and furthering education are reasons to celebrate and so we honor and “shower” our high school grads with gifts, awards, and inspirational messages.

Performances – The addition of our theater program has provided opportunities for girls to demonstrate what they are learning through a holiday musical, spring musical and summer camp theater performance.  Girls strengthen their confidence and express themselves in new ways.

To sponsor an event, please contact the Development Office at 508-755-6455 ext. 22 or email hpaluk@girlsincworcester.org.

Volunteer Opportunities

Girls Inc. of Worcester could not operate without the hundreds of volunteer service hours we receive every year from dedicated individuals. Working directly with girls or “behind the scenes,” volunteers enhance the girls’ experience with Girls Inc. programs and contribute significantly to helping girls develop into strong, smart, and bold individuals.

While many of our volunteers are engaged directly through our corporate partners, we offer many individual opportunities, including chances to serve as a coach in our leadership programs; be a guest speaker or mentor; assist in our afterschool program or during a special event; serve on our board or a committee; or partake in a one-time opportunity like Day of Caring.  We also offer year-round internships.  If you have a special talent or skill, please consider sharing it with our girls! We are dedicated to placing our volunteers in a job that is a good match for you and for us.

For more information, visit us at www.girlsincworcester.org or contact Anne McCarthy at 508-755-6455 x41 or amccarthy@girlsincworcester.org to discuss volunteer and internship opportunities.
