Worcester cannabis firm Temescal Wellness, with locations in Framingham, Hudson and Pittsfield, announced on Wednesday it had destroyed $2.6 million in marijuana vape cartridges following last year’s temporary ban on vaping by Gov. Charlie Baker.
Worcester’s City Council voted 8-3 to raise the city’s commercial property tax rate Wednesday night, while lowering the residential property tax rate.
Warehouses and distribution centers have been popping up throughout Central Massachusetts over the last year. In the last few months, online retail giant Amazon has added several locations throughout the region and appears poised to take over the high-profile location for the soon-to-be-demolished Greendale Mall.
The Greendale Mall, now down to a single tenant, wasn't especially unusual as a fading shopping mall at a time when retail is struggling. But the Worcester mall's apparent fate as a future Amazon warehouse would make it a first: the only shopping mall in New England to be converted into industrial use.
