Gov. Deval Patrick has signed an $86 million spending bill, closing the books on fiscal year 2014, giving the Massachusetts Department of Transportation ownership of its headquarters next to the Boston Public Garden and creating a $2 million fund to support municipal public works and public health projects.
Ten Central Massachusetts communities will receive federal community development block grants that total about $6.6 million for a variety of uses, notably housing and infrastructure upgrades.
Boston-based First Wind announced a 25-year agreement to provide wind-generated power, at cost, to 17 Massachusetts towns, including eight in Central Massachusetts.
