The President Donald Trump Administration cut $110.2 million in U.S. Department of Energy funding to Westborough-based Ascend Elements' plans for an electric vehicle battery recycling facility in Kentucky. Still, Ascend announced in October that it plans to move forward with the project despite the federal cuts.
Westborough-based defense optics manufacturing firm Kopin Corp. has entered into a securities purchase agreement for private investment in company shares expected to raise $41 million.
The announcement by Applegreen arrived the night before the Senate Post Audit and Oversight Committee was scheduled to hold a hearing on the procurement controversy.
