Northborough Lender Marks First Expansion Beyond New England

A Northborough company that provides lending services for people who buy mobile homes, will expand outside New England, establishing operations in Maryland, Delaware and New York. Chris Schofield, who founded Priority Funding in 2003, made the decision to grow to the south and west after maximizing the company's potential in New England. Schofield said Priority Funding has serviced about 3,500 loans for its clients, who provide financing on mobile homes built on leased land, and now he sees great potential to grow the business outside the region.

uTest Announces Name Change

Framingham-based uTest, which tests software and mobile applications, announced Tuesday it will change the company's name to Applause in 2014.

Marlborough Becomes A Life Sciences Magnet

Boston Biomedical Associates (BBA) had just five employees in a single Northborough suite when it launched in 1999. As the biomedical consulting industry grew, BBA expanded its headcount to 52. Those employees worked out of five suites scattered throughout an office building, making it difficult to coordinate across departments, said Mack Rubley, the company's director of business development.

Tufts, MetroWest Medical Centers Announce Partnership

Tufts Medical Center announced it has opened a new primary care office in Framingham in partnership with MetroWest Medical Center. The practice, called Tufts Medical Center Primary Care, will refer patients in need of follow-up care to specialists at both Tufts Medical Center in Boston and MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick, according to a statement from Tufts. Tufts Medical Center Primary Care offers same-day appointments and on-site laboratory services at its location on Route 9, at 85 Worcester Road, next to Shopper's World.
