House Democrats voted Wednesday to steer another $245 million toward the overwhelmed emergency family shelter system while capping how long people can receive its services, along the way rejecting a Republican proposal to limit program eligibility.
Central Massachusetts businesses in Worcester, Natick, and Hudson are among those benefiting from a Gov. Maura Healey Administration grant injecting $3.14 million into the state’s manufacturing industry.
This transaction comes after a February deal which saw Tenet offload four other California hospitals to UCI Health, the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine.
State law and the CCC's regulations neither explicitly allow nor prohibit licensed marijuana stores from selling Lottery tickets. But the CCC has, by policy, limited the non-marijuana items its retailers can sell to marijuana accessories like pipes and things like T-shirts or hats that carry the retailer's brand.
"We are aware that our state faces urgent budget and shelter crises," the 117 clergy members who signed the letter said, acknowledging that lawmakers have little wiggle room when it comes to budget decisions lately.
Tutwiler said the field is already flooded with "misinformation" about the proposal, stressing that it would not eliminate the MCAS altogether but would instead decouple results from high school graduation requirements.
Even with a slowing of the Massachusetts economy in the fourth quarter, business leaders in both Greater Worcester and the state-at-large are feeling increasingly confident in the current economic climate.
