Umass Chan Medical School’s Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing has been awarded a four-year $11.6-million grant by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services to help finance the university’s new psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners fellowship program. 

With some exceptions, all new Executive Branch hiring between April 3 and June 30 will need to be approved by the Executive Office of Administration and Finance based on time-sensitivity and the importance of positions, the office said.

A handful of local officials warned lawmakers Tuesday that the wide-ranging legislation Healey filed takes too heavy a touch in certain areas, infringing on the local control that community leaders cherish and that opponents contend is often used to stall development.

Amenities at the new Worcester location will include private offices, meeting rooms, and complimentary beverages. The company plans on hosting events, workshops, and networking events at the location.

After nearly four years with a streamlined system in place to permit outdoor dining and permission to sell takeout alcoholic drinks, both practices lapsed Monday as the calendar flipped to April.

Four Worcester individuals have been indicted for their alleged involvement in a local personal care attendant and home health Medicaid fraud scheme, according to a Monday announcement from the Office of Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell.

Larry Lucchino, the former president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox and the person most instrumental in moving the Pawtucket Red Sox to Worcester, has died at age 78, according to reporting by the Boston Globe. 

Grafton State Hospital operated as a mental health facility from 1901 to 1973, when it was shuttered as part of the state’s deinstitutionalization efforts.

The Massachusetts Cultural Council has awarded 53 grants, totalling in $246,844, to help fund Worcester-based arts and cultural programs through the City’s Worcester Arts Council.
