Professionals are being hired and promoted at Central Massachusetts businesses like Geisel Software, Shepherd & Goldstein, Cornerstone Bank, and Consigli Construction.

“It’s kind of sad when you see [co-workers] walking into the building looking like they’re on death row,” one employee said, “It wasn’t like this before.”

Another Central Massachusetts cannabis company is in hot water over debt, as Grafton-based dispensary Discern'd Cannabis Purveyors has been sued for allegedly failing to make payments on a $100,000 loan. 

The holding company of Oxford-based bankHometown, has reached an agreement to merge with North Shore Bancorp.

A petition against the project on Change.org received 415 signatures but complaints from locals failed to stop the project. Construction of the CVS was completed in 2023.

The 3,616-square-foot former firehouse is located in the Town Center Mixed Use zone, allowing for a number of potential uses, including multi-family housing, offices, or retail use. 

The lawsuit alleges that Greatest Hits made two purchases of wholesale products totaling a value of $56,330 but failed to make on-time payments.

The situation in Central Massachusetts, where 15.6% of named executive officers are female, largely mirrors the Massachusetts rate of 16.1% determined in a statewide census.
