During the last recession in 2009, Bryan Sawyer became the general manager of his family’s Bull Run Restaurant and embarked on its rebuilding, survival, and upgrade.
At 25, he started at his family’s business in a time of hardships and uncertainty. Throughout the last 10 years, he has helped his family make renovations and improvements on the menu, entertainment and overall service. This has impressively resulted in the Bull Run’s growth from $800,000 in annual revenues to more than $4 million, after surviving the economic uncertainty the 75-year-old restaurant endured. This ability to tackle uncertainty has helped Sawyer adapt during the age of the coronavirus, including dealing with restrictions and the closing and reopening process. Sawyer is a member of the Shirley board of selectmen and previously served as the chair of the finance committee. He joined the Ayer Rotary Club in 2012, where he served as president, treasurer and is on the board of directors, giving him opportunities to participate in local fundraisers and service projects.
