UMass Memorial Names New CEO

UMass Memorial Health Care has named UMass insider Dr. Eric W. Dickson as its new president and CEO.<br> The 46-year-old Dickson will succeed John O'Brien, who has been at the helm of Central Massachusetts' largest employer for the past decade. O'Brien will step down Feb. 25. Dickson is president of UMass Memorial Medical Group, a subsidiary of the health care system. That has 1,060 physicians and 2,200 other employees, as well as revenue of more than $460 million. The Princeton resident is also a senior associate dean at the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he is a professor of emergency medicine. In addition, Dickson is a practicing emergency department physician at UMass Memorial Medical Center and a faculty member at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement in Cambridge.
