Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Stow clean energy firm River Otter Renewables have been granted $75,000 each for climate-related initiatives, as part of a $2.5-million award statewide from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

The new research hub will be an outgrowth of the UMass Chan-Lahey regional campus established in December 2022, which received approval from the New England Commission of Higher Education in January.

With the region already grappling with workforce shortages, a quarter of young professionals living in Greater Boston intend to move elsewhere over the next five years as they navigate their career prospects and housing affordability, a new survey released Monday found.

A developer is planning on building a child care center and a small office building at a site on Plantation Street in Worcester, adjacent to the Coal Mine Brook and an off-ramp for Interstate 290.
