Larry Lucchino, the former president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox and the person most instrumental in moving the Pawtucket Red Sox to Worcester, has died at age 78, according to reporting by the Boston Globe. 

Developers and business owners expect that growth to continue, saying new businesses and even more residents will soon make the area home, creating the next chapter in the long history of the Canal District.

Kim Miner, the former executive vice president and general counsel for the Worcester Red Sox, has been hired as the chief of staff for Boston Unity Soccer Partners.

The team has declined to give a purchase price on the sale to Diamond Baseball Holdings, but at the request of WBJ, a Holy Cross professor has estimated the team's valuation based on revenues, market size, and the new stadium.
