Colleges, companies recruit women into STEM fields

STEM fields have very few women, but colleges are working to change that. At WPI, this fall's freshman class was 44-percent female, up from 34 percent a year ago – WPI's previous high mark.

Waters Corp. Q3 profit up 9%

Milford laboratory instrument manufacturer Waters Corp. reported on Tuesday a 9-percent increase in third quarter net income.

Waters sales up 4% to $537 million

Waters Corp., a Milford producer of scientific software and other products, had second-quarter sales of $558 million, a 4-percent growth, the company reported Tuesday.

Waters profits grew 12%

Net income at Waters Corp. in Milford was up 12 percent over the previous year, as the company saw sales growth in most of its busiest industry sectors.
