David Nordman, executive editor at the Telegram & Gazette, will step down at the end of May, the Worcester-based newspaper announced Tuesday.

In 2021, consumers had the most complaints against Central Massachusetts utilities and auto dealers.

The former publisher of the Telegram & Gazette, who was more recently elevated to a regional executive role with the newspaper's parent company, has departed Gannett the same week as many of its newspapers announced buyouts.

Longtime journalists at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette had their final day on the job Tuesday as the newspaper offered buyouts as a small part of roughly 500 who were voluntarily let go of by parent company Gannett.

The top editor for the Telegram & Gazette in Worcester has been promoted to oversee the newspaper's sister outlets in Framingham, Milford and Gardner.

At a time when local news outlets have about as big of an ongoing news story as they can get, many are going to have to cover it with less help.

The Worcester Magazine, now over a year under Worcester Telegram & Gazette parent company GateHouse Media, will replace a regular section of the city’s main newspaper.
