Jabil will look to acquire healthcare, defense, aerospace and industrial manufacturing in the coming years to help offset challenges in its core market, according to the company's annual report.
Jabil Circuit Inc., the Florida-based company that acquired Nypro Inc. of Clinton this year, reported quarterly and annual revenue gains for its 2013 fiscal year that ended Aug. 31, though net and operating income declined, due in part to a restructuring, the company said.
Since news broke last week that Clinton-based precision-injection molding manufacturer Nypro is scouring Central Massachusetts for a new manufacturing site to accommodate new contracts for the production of medical devices, there's been speculation about whether it might set up shop in space left vacant when Evergreen Solar shuttered its Devens plant in 2011.
Two weeks after it announced it had reached an agreement to be sold to a Florida firm, Nypro Inc. said it plans to add 100 employees at its home base in Clinton to meet growing demand for its health care products.
Nypro Inc. of Clinton is being sold to a Florida-based provider of manufactured precision plastics products for an estimated $665 million, according to a statement from that company.
