National Grid grants $405K for Central Mass. energy relief

Utility company National Grid has dispersed $1 million in grants to Massachusetts nonprofits as part of its winter bill relief program for residential customers. The United Way of Central Massachusetts received $405,000 in utility assistance to hand out. 

State approves $470M electrical grid modernization project

The Department of Public Utilities last week approved utility company investments totaling more than $470 million to modernize the electric distribution system in an attempt to improve reliability and accommodate what is expected to be a growing reliance on clean energy.

Mass. clean energy bill becomes law

Gov. Charlie Baker was able to overcome his agita and on Thursday signed the Legislature's compromise offshore wind and climate policy bill, but he aired "deep misgivings" with some parts of the law and the way the House and Senate addressed his suggestions.

Worcester Business Center to add $6M solar carport canopy

The Worcester Business Center has begun a 25-year lease agreement with Green Street Power Partners of Connecticut to build a 2 megawatt, 2.6-acre carport canopy solar array in the parking lot of its office space complex.

State utility regulators have ordered a broad investigation into the management of National Grid in a rare move born of concerns that one of the state's largest electricity providers failed to communicate about the potential for severe delays in solar power installations.
