Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner is the latest Central Massachusetts institution to receive a gift from the assets of former Becker College.
Greater Worcester Community Foundation has received the largest donation in its 50-year history as the shuttered Becker College has pledged $13 million to the foundation.
As leaders, they ably represented two of Central Massachusetts’ longest-running institutions: each intricately tied to Isaiah Thomas. One turned his bequeathed library into the world’s preeminent repository of pre-20th-century print materials in what is now the United States. The other invoked the patriot printer’s name for its annual award to citizens who serve Worcester with distinction.

A 36-unit apartment complex at 38 Cedar St. in Worcester sold for $7.2 million according to a Thursday press release from Worcester broker NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs.
