Assumption College has signed a partnership with a Worcester Catholic school that's the combined entity of the former Holy Name and Saint Peter-Marian schools.
As protests continue across America over the May 25 police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis — including a protest in Worcester on Monday night — the presidents of six Worcester colleges expressed frustration over racial injustice and sympathy for Floyd and protestors while calling for a systematic change in how the country deals with race relations.
Francesco Cesareo, already the president of Assumption College for nearly 13 years, has had his contract extended for five additional years, the Worcester school said Monday.
Assumption College has established a $3-million fund to provide additional financial aid for students whose families are facing financial hardship because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and The Princeton Review have recognized Assumption College and Clark University, respectively.
