Zipcar, the Boston-based global car-sharing network, is now operating in the city of Worcester and offering special rates for businesses.
Worcester residents, businesses, visitors and students now have access to six Zipcars within city limits. They can be reserved by the hour or by the day via Zipcar’s mobile app, the internet or the phone, according to a Wednesday press release from the company.
Businesses can take advantage of the company’s Zipcar for Business program, which offers discounted driving rates Monday through Friday. The program is meant to help businesses save money, reduce parking requirements and meet sustainability goals.
Zipcar already has cars available at several colleges in Worcester, including Clark University, College of the Holy Cross, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Worcester State University. Zipcar said has been successful at the schools and wanted to expand access to the rest of the city.
