More than half of all CIOs who responded to a recent survey said their firms completely prohibit employees from visiting social networking sites on the job.
The Robert Half Technology survey asked CIOs about their companies’ policies regarding sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. A full 54 percent said employees were completely prohibited from those sites while at work.
Another 19 percent said visiting social networking sites was permitted for business purposes only and 16 percent said they were permitted for “limited personal use.”
