WWE lays smackdown on House Committee

Stamford-based World Wrestling Entertainment has issued a statement regarding Wednesday’s Congressional Hearing on steroids and sports.

At the hearing, committee members singled out WWE chairman Vince McMahon for not attending the hearing and at one point accused McMahon of “flipping his finger” at the committee.

In the statement, McMahon said that any suggestion made by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce that he was uncooperative was “inaccurate and unfair.” McMahon stated that the WWE had provided more than 3,000 pages of documents requested by the committee and that he remains willing to cooperate fully with the inquiry.

The reason McMahon said he declined the invitation to attend the hearing was because his attorney, Jerry McDevitt, was involved with another client who is on trial in Pittsburgh.
