Five solar power systems will be installed on state rooftops, including at Worcester State University, under a 20-year agreement brokered by Framingham-based Ameresco Inc. and the state Department of Energy Resources.
Under the agreement with Ameresco, the state will get solar-generated electricity for less than it pays for electricity currently at WSU, two Massport Logan Airport terminals, Bridgewater State University and the Canton Housing Authority.
The systems will be designed, constructed, financed, owned and operated by Ameresco. The solar panels themselves will be manufactured by Solectria of Lawrence.
The cost of the projects will be offset by federal stimulus funding.
