The Worcester Regional Transit Authority will receive $5 million in federal funding to support operations during the coronavirus pandemic, Congressman Jim McGovern (D-Worcester) announced in a Tuesday press release.
The funding was authorized through the $2-trillion CARES Act, which allocated $25 billion for urban and rural transit agencies in the face of the pandemic.
The funding will be available to support capital, operating and other expenses to help the WRTA prevent, prepare for and respond to the coronavirus, according to the press release.
