Robert L. Norton, Milton Prince Higgins II Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, has been named the Professor of the Year for Massachusetts by CASE, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
The awards program is sponsored jointly by CASE and the Carnegie foundation for the advancement of teaching.
In his career, Norton has developed food handling equipment, cameras, an artificial heart and various other machinery. He has been part of the WPI faculty since 1981.
