John A. Orr, provost and senior vice president at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), and David DiBiasio, head of WPI's chemical engineering department, were elected fellows of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
Orr, a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has been a leader in engineering education since 1977, developing project-based and global programs at WPI. Orr's research covers aspects of digital signal processing. He holds a bachelor's and doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earned a master's in electrical engineering at Stanford University, and previously worked at Bell Laboratories.
DiBiasio, chair of chemical engineering division of ASEE, joined WPI faculty in 1980 as assistant professor of chemical engineering. In 2006 he was appointed head of the chemical engineering department. DiBiasio graduated from Perdue University with a bachelor's, master's and doctorate in chemical engineering. He has focused his research on education, including, engineering education, international education, teaching and learning, and assessment.
