Worcester Polytechnic Institute will begin offering a new master's degree program in business analytics beginning in August to better prepare students for careers handling large volumes of data.
WPI is also adding an analytics option for its existing master's degree in information technology, it announced Tuesday. Both are in WPI's Foisie Business School.
Demand for such skills are higher than ever, including because of the coronavirus pandemic, for technology-based solutions including data modeling, WPI said. Both master's degrees are aimed at helping employees looking to move to new career paths and companies looking to serve customers more in an online realm, the school said.
Students in the new 33-credit master's in business analytics program will be able to choose one of four specialties: advanced business analytics methods, marketing analytics, operations analytics, and financial analytics. The master's in information technology program, which also includes 33 credits, was updated in December to focus more on business analytics.
