A Worcester Polytechnic Institute summer program that provides middle school science teachers with a biomedical research curriculum for their students will continue, thanks to a $375,000 grant from the National Science Foundation announced today.
The six-week Research Experience for Teachers program, an outgrowth of a program that ran in 2010 and 2008 (and was also funded by NSF), will begin this summer and has grant funding for three years.
The school is currently accepting applications for up to 10 teachers, who will be paired with researchers working on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
WPI recently launched a STEM Education Center for administrators and educators who want to improve their teaching of science, technology, education and mathematics.
