Wormtowm Brewery in Worcester announced Monday a partnership with Dunkin Donuts on the release of DDark Roasted Brew, a stout-style beer brewed with Dunkin Donuts’ dark roast beans, according to a press release from Dunkin Donuts.

The new beer will mark the darkest day of the year, the winter solstice. It will be available beginning right at the solstice - 11:28 a.m. on Dec. 21. The beer will be available on draught only.

The beer is described as a decadent stout featuring “rull-roasted coffee flavor reminiscent of freshly-ground beans with a creamy mouthfeel.”

To celebrate the beer’s release, the brewery and local Dunkin Donuts franchisee Rob Branca will be donating $11,500 to the Worcester Food Bank.

In addition to owning several Worcester-area Dunkin Donuts, Branca is the developer and landlord of the building Wormtown calls home, 72 Shrewsbury St.

“We’re confident this beer is going to be an instant favorite for New Englanders this holiday season, and the fact that we’re able to give back to Worcester-area families through this partnership just makes it that much better,” said Scott Drake, head brewer at Wormtown.

In the press release, Branca said Worcester is home to one of the first Dunkin Donuts restaurants.

“This partnership with Wormtown continues to drive innovation in Worcester and we are excited to brew up something extra bold to help our loyal guests to celebrate the darkest day of the year,” he said.
