Energy procurement company World Energy Solutions of Worcester has been selected by a utility company to deliver energy conservation services to Western Massachusetts businesses.
World Energy will serve as a contractor under the “Project Expeditor” program run by the Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo), which serves more than 200,000 customers in that part of the state. The program is designed to help mid- to large-size businesses with average monthly electricity demand of more than 300 kilowatts cut energy costs through efficiency measures, according to World Energy.
Through the program, World Energy is approved to provide conservation measures in a number of areas including lighting, energy management systems and HVAC. WMECo is supplementing up to 40 percent of the projects’ costs.
“We expect the WMECo Project Expeditor Program to drive business growth for us in Western Massachusetts, and have already identified several project opportunities there,” Rick Galipeau, general manager of energy efficiency, said in a statement.
