World Energy Nets Government Savings

Worcester-based energy auction firm World Energy Solutions has helped the federal General Services Administration procure a new four-year contract to purchase energy that will save the agency $35 million.

World Energy ran a series of online auctions for energy suppliers to bid on the opportunity to sell the commodity to the GSA. The GSA received more than 270 bids from energy suppliers looking to make a deal. Eventually, the GSA chose a new four-year contract in which it will purchase 800 kilowatt hours of electricity to supply 36 facilities in New York. The contract represents an estimated 35 percent cost reduction from the GSA's previous contract.

Last week World Energy helped the GSA secure $3.75 million in savings to service facilities across New England with electricity.
