Fitchburg-based Workers' Credit Union has partnered with the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School to open its 17th branch.

The fully-functioning branch at the Fitchburg school will offer job opportunities to select students. While the students will be able to apply their learning in a hands-on, real-world environment, the branch will also offer a range of financial services from a cash dispenser to special checking accounts for students.

According to Doug Petersen, president and CEO of Workers’ Credit Union, this branch is important not only as the credit union’s 17th, but for the selected students who will work day-long shifts every other week handling their classmate’s transactions.
