Construction of the new, 60,000-square-foot headquarters of Workers Credit Union in Littleton has been completed.
The announcement was made Tuesday by Maugel Architects of Harvard and Nauset Construction of Needham, who had undertaken the project. The renovations included demolition of the existing building down to the steel and construction of new additions, according to a release from the two firms.
The completion finalizes the credit union's move of its headquarters out of Fitchburg, where it has been based since 1979. Workers will maintain a presence in Fitchburg after it moves the headquarters to Littleton.
The new headquarters will house the credit union’s corporate offices, a number of departments, conference rooms, training rooms, a café, an outdoor dining patio and a fitness center.
“Our new headquarters will be a place of purpose to improve the daily lives of our members and through them, the greater community,” Bob Lockett, chief strategy officer at Workers Credit Union, said in a release.
The new construction maximizes light and access to outdoor spaces through the use of folding glass walls as well as open office areas adjacent to large windows.
Hill International of Philadelphia served as the owner’s project manager.
