The Dive Bar at 34 Green St. in Worcester, which closed in 2019 after 25 years, is planned to be replaced by a new bar owned by one of the owners of deadhorse hill on Main Street, according to a license commission meeting agenda.
The commission’s agenda shows requests by a project called the Sundown located at 34 Green St. The requestor, Anagrams for Everything LLC, is registered to Sean Woods, who is also registered with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth as a manager of Seven Hills Hospitality LLC along with Jared Forman. The two are co-owners of the deadhorse hill restaurant in Worcester, along with Bert LaValley.
The Sundown submitted requests for an alcohol license, food service license, and entertainment license, including live music. The meeting to approve these licenses will occur on Thursday morning.
The story was first reported by the016.com.
The Dive Bar’s owners, Alec Lopez and Sherri Sadowski, who also own Armsby Abbey, announced the permanent closing in October 2019.
Neither the Dive Bar's nor the Sundown's owners were available for immediate comment.
CORRECTIONS: A previous version of this story made it appear as though Sean Woods was manager of the deadhorse hill restaurant, rather than co-owner. Woods is registered with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth as a manager for Seven Hills Hospitality LLC, which is unrelated to internal business personnel titles. Separately, a photo caption in a previous version of this story incorrectly said The Dive Bar was still open. It closed in 2019.
