Geisel Software of Worcester announced on Tuesday it has partnered with Fayetteville State University in North Carolina to perform multi-robot perception research under a NASA grant.
The research will be funded by NASA’s Minority University Research and Education Project Space Technology Artemis Research Grant, which is intended to help support research capacity and infrastructure at minority-serving institutions, per the announcement. Fayetteville State is a historically Black college and university, known more commonly as an HBCU.
The research will be concerned with multi-robot perception, a technology using specialized image sensors, to support NASA’s autonomous multi-robot systems, which perform scouting missions on the surface of the moon and other planets.
The principal investigator on the project will be Sambit Bhattacharya, a computer science professor at Fayetteville.
