The Worcester Together joint venture raised $1 million toward its Central Mass. COVID-19 fund over the weekend, the organization announced in a press release on Monday.
The fund is closing in on $4 million in total donations.
Money raised over the weekend came from a variety of charitable groups, including The Stoddard Charitable Trust in Worcester, which pledged $600,000 to the initiative, and the Ruth H. and Warren A. Ellsworth Foundation in Worcester, which donated $100,000.
Other donors include The Barr Foundation in Boston, which donated $250,000 to the fund, as well as the George F & Sybil H. Fuller Foundation Charitable Trust in Worcester and the Mildred H. McEvoy Foundation in Worcester, which each donated $50,000.
Worcester Together is a joint effort between the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, the United Way of Central Massachusetts, and the City of Worcester. It provides financial assistance to groups disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus.
The first round of grantees was announced on Friday when the group pledged $151,000 to 14 Central Massachusetts organizations.
