The City of Worcester announced the launch of a yearlong celebration of the Worcester Tercentennial, the city’s 300th anniversary, which includes a marketing strategy, partnership with tourism agency Discover Central Massachusetts, and programming with local businesses.

Worcester was founded on June 14, 1722, so 2022 will include a series of observances to commemorate this anniversary. Mayor Joseph Petty and City Manager Edward Augustus convened a committee of local business and community leaders earlier this year to plan the events.

The planning has included a marketing strategy with a podcast, social media channels, and a website landing page hosted by Discover Central Massachusetts. These channels will compile stories and photos from the community to reflect its history.

Businesses are encouraged to submit their events to the Tercentennial calendar at www.worcestertercentennial.com, as well as WBJ's events calendar here.
