Online news outlet Worcester Sun has purchased the exclusive print rights to content produced by Mass Foodies to appear in the paper’s upcoming weekly print edition.
Printed content from Mass Foodies, which covers the state’s hospitality and restaurant industry, will appear in the Sun’s upcoming weekly newspaper, which is scheduled to begin on Dec. 9.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in a press release from the Sun on Thursday afternoon.
In a statement, Sun President and CEO Mark Henderson said the two media companies have been invested in the Worcester renaissance.
“We feel it’s a natural to complement the news and information we produce with content from Mass Foodies, which has the reach and expertise in the industry to provide readers information on the bustling restaurant and hospitality industry,” he said.
The Sun announced last month that it would begin a weekly print edition every Saturday starting next week.
Home delivery and retail purchase of the Sun will initially be available in Auburn, Boylston, Grafton, Holden, Leicecster, Millbury, Paxton, Shrewsbury, West Boylston and Worcester, with more towns slated for the future.
Current online subscribers can opt to have the print edition delivered to their home, and the $2 per week print subscription will come with digital access to stories every Wednesday and Sunday, the paper said.
