Worcester State to host addiction and prevention courses

The Worcester State University campus, where the the New England Summer School of Addiction and Prevention Studies will hold courses next month.
Worcester State University will host the New England Summer School of Addiction and Prevention Studies next month to teach those in the industry about addiction, behavioral health, substance abuse prevention and other topics.
More than nine courses will be held June 4-7 in the school's 49th year and fifth at Worcester State.
The program is aimed at providing best practices to those who work in the behavioral health and addiction fields. It works with state agency partners in all six New England states and treatment provider partners such as AdCare Educational Institute of Massachusetts, which is based in Worcester.
The program includes one-, two- and four-day courses, along with a talk by Dr. Howard Shaffer, a psychiatry professor at Harvard Medical School and the director of the Division on Addiction at the Harvard-affiliated Cambridge Health Alliance.
