Worcester State University will allow Springfield Technical Community College to complete their bachelor’s degree in four years for $30,000 or less, under an agreement between the two schools.
The agreement, signed Thursday, would allow Springfield Tech (STCC) students to transfer to Worcester State (WSU) after receiving their associate degrees, WSU announced in a statement. MassTransfer is a statewide program run by the Mass. Department of Higher Education. This program allows college community college students to complete their associate’s degrees and transfer to any Massachusetts state university or University of Massachusetts school.
This program allows STCC students who meet certain requirements to graduate from WSU with a bachelor’s degree in business administration or visual and performing arts.
"Those enrolled full time would earn two degrees in four years for $30,000—less than the cost of one year at many private colleges,” WSU President Barry M. Maloney said.
Students attending STCC must earn their associate’s degrees within three years with an overall grade-point average of at least 2.5 to transfer into the corresponding WSU major. Students who graduate with a GPA of at least 3.0 will be eligible for tuition waivers.
