Worcester residents may soon have to go a little farther for their java fix.
The Starbucks located at 225 Shrewsbury St. is among the approximately 600 slated to close by the middle of next year. In total, seven Massachusetts locations are on the closure list.
The loss of the Shrewsbury Street shop will leave the city with two other Starbucks, at 11 East Central Street and 1 West Boylston Street.
The company said the closures, which it calls a part of a "transformation strategy," will begin this month and continue through the first half of 2009.
If you're as mortified as the WBJ staff is by the news that the Shrewsbury Street location is closing, please e-mail editorial@wbjournal.com. We'll combine all the e-mail testimonials into a petition to Save The Shrewsbury Street Starbucks and send it to Seattle!
