Worcester-based staffing firm Masis Staffing Solutions laid off 106 workers related to a large client on Aug. 5.

Masis would not comment Tuesday on what client is responsible for the layoffs. The layoffs were listed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act filing with the state.

"This will not impact our current and future growth as an organization and we expect that this client layoff will be temporary such as many in the temp staffing industry," said Masis COO Frankie Vaccaro via email on Tuesday.

Masis supplies long and short-term placement for personnel, temp-to-perm, payroll services, and human resource services. The company supplies about 900 temps daily in Central Massachusetts and employs 65 administrative staff locally, according to the WBJ Research Department.

The company has locations throughout the eastern United States. The company has temps with companies in industries including education, information technology, health care, and customer service.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs, so state agencies can help laid-off workers with placement or retraining.
