Two Central Massachusetts manufacturers, along with 17 other startups in the state, will share part of a $3.3-million state grant.

In Worcester County, Battery Resourcers and C-2 Innovations, Inc. were awarded the funds from the MassVentures START program and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

The grants were announced by Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito in late June at Intrinsix, an advanced semiconductor manufacturer based in Marlborough.

In Worcester, battery recycler and manufacturer Battery Resourcers was named a Stage II winter. The company synthesizes new cathode materials from spent lithium ion cells in old batteries. The company then manufacturers low-cost cathode materials to the lithium ion battery market.

Also named a Stage II winner was C-2 Innovations, based in Shrewsbury, which designs and builds amphibious robots for monitoring, sampling and mapping the ocean floor.
