Ruff Dawg pet toys, a division of Worcester-based Jefferson Rubber Works, has acquired Astro Manufacturing, also of Worcester, and its line of pet toys.
The acquisition was finalized on March 15, according to a statement from Ruff Dawg. The company will add Astro pet toy products to existing line of more than 30 products, including the K-9 Flyer, the SuperTug and the Wabbit, Ruff Dawg said.
The firm will add between five and 15 full-time jobs through the acquisition, and offer employment to key Astro Pet Toys staff members, according to the company.
"We plan to become a force in the pet toy industry and believe that the AstroBone by Ruff Dawg line will open doors into grocery story, drug store, big box and other local, regional and national outlets," Ruff Dawg Owner Dave Pentland said in a statement.
Ruff Dawg pet toys was created in 1995 as a division of Jefferson Rubber Works, the company said. Jefferson was incorporated in 1975.
