President Barack Obama’s presence in the Worcester area will be felt tomorrow, even for those who haven’t snagged a ticket to the Worcester Technical High School commencement.
The greatest impact will be felt on the streets surrounding the DCU Center, where Obama is scheduled to speak sometime after 4 p.m., according to the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Commercial Street will be closed between Foster Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. From 2:30 to 6 p.m. (the commencement is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.), Foster Street will be closed from Major Taylor Boulevard to Commercial Street, while Major Taylor Boulevard will be closed from MLK Boulevard to Foster Street.
Parking will be prohibited on Pleasant Street – along with possibly other roads between Worcester Regional Airport and the DCU Center – for the whole day, the chamber said. Road closures on the major thoroughfares between the airport and the DCU Center are also likely.
Air Force One is expected to arrive in Worcester at 3:25 p.m. and depart at 8:55 p.m.
