Destination Worcester via Flickr Accessibility in Worcester was one of the issues raised in the findings.

Worcester was ranked as the worst place for a person with disabilities to live out of the nation’s 150 most populated cities.

The personal finance site WalletHub analyzed 150 U.S. cities on various metrics that included cost of living, employment rate for people with disabilities and the annual cost of in-home service. The report also took into account quality of life factors such as air quality, accessibility of public facilities and quality of health care.

This report found Worcester lacking in key areas. Among those were:

  • 118th – Cost of Living
  • 143rd – Employment Rate for People with Disabilities
  • 138th – % of Persons with Disabilities Living Below Poverty Level
  • 115th – Housing Affordability
  • 145th – Cost of Doctor Visit
  • 56th – Annual Cost of In-Home Services
  • 106th – Number of Family Doctors & General Practitioners per Capita
  • 147th – Median Earnings for People with Disabilities

However, Boston did not perform much better, landing at 127th on the list, and nearby Providence only eked out a ranking of 148. The full list of cities is available online.
