Worcester ranked highly for work-life balance

Contributed Photo Greasy's Garage in Worcester is representative of the jobs that allow people to live comfortably but also enjoy their downtown and allowed Worcester to be ranked third in the state for work-life balance.

A new survey of Massachusetts communities has ranked Worcester third in the state when it comes to finding a good work-life balance.

The list, which placed Lawrence at the top followed by Springfield and Worcester, compiled a list of communities where commutes are short, households are large and there's plenty to do. Zippia -- a company that compiles information about communities to allow for better career decisions -- focused on communities that allow people to work but also have a balance to their life.

The survey used data from the most recent American Community Survey from the Census Department and Yelp data about things to do in the community. The communities that struck a balance between having things to do, short commutes and employment opportunities were singled out as the best places for work-life balance in Massachusetts.
