The Worcester Railers will begin its full 2020-21 season of minor league hockey in December, its league announced on Wednesday.
The ECHL season is projected to start officially on Dec. 4, with a full 72-game schedule lined up.
ECHL Commissioner Ryan Crelin said in a statement while ECHL is eager to get the league up and running again, the decision to postpone the start date is in the best interest of league players, employees and fans.
“The ECHL and our Board of Governors are focused on the 2020-21 Season and remain optimistic for the safe reopening of our venues across the continent,” Crelin said.
Originally, the ECHL season was set to begin on Oct. 16. Schedule details will be released at a later date.
